The root chakra, also known in Sanskrit as the mūlādhāra chakra, is located at the base of the spine at about tailbone-level.  Best described as “the root of all things” , this  chakra represents instinctual consciousness at the individual’s center of emotional and spiritual balance. At its most basic level, the root chakra is concerned with practicality and basic needs. It controls our senses of  strength, commitment, stability, safety and is responsible for feeling grounded to our mother planet Earth and feeling deeply grounded as if one was rooted like a majestic tree.

The Sacral Chakra, or Swadisthana chakra in Sanskrit is the second of the seven chakras. It is located just below the navel and the center of your lower belly. It is associated with the element of water and the colour orange.

This sensual chakra represents the centre for feelings, sexual pleasure and emotions. It plays an active role in the expression of our sexual needs and desires. The circles in connection with the lotus flower petals represent the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.

The Solar Plexus chakra or Manipura is the third primary chakra, the energy of which allows us to feel motivated, confident and purposeful.

In Sanskrit, Manipura means “lustrous gem” and pura stands for “city”. Together, the word manipura means the city of gems. The Solar Plexus is associated with personal power and self-motivation.

It is related to our inner strength and self-esteem, warrior energy and the power of transformation. It is the home of our self-control, courage and love of oneself.

The heart chakra or Anahata is the fourth primary chakra, the energy of which allows us to feel interconnected within an intricate web of relationships extending through all life in the multiverses.
In Sanskrit, anahata means “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”. Anahata is associated with serenity, balance and calmness.
It represents our abilities to love unconditionally, forgive and accept others and ourselves as one. When a person achieves a state of ultimate bliss or Samadhi, they are in tune with their internal self.

The Throat chakra is the fifth chakra and is associated with the color blue. Located in anatomical regions of the jaw, neck, mouth, tongue, and larynx, it gives us the ability to communicate.

The function of the Throat chakra enables us to speak, listen, and express ourselves with a higher form of communication. Vishuddhi in English translates to “especially pure”.
It defines our abilities to communicate clearly on an internal and external level. In this way we are able to honor our personal purpose & truth without judgement.

The Brow chakra is the sixth chakra and is associated with the color purple & indigo. Located in the middle of the head as the second highest chakra (sixth seal), it gives us access to our sixth sense. The function of the Brown chakra enables us to see where we are going with clear sight.
Ajna in Sanskrit means command or order and is the energy centre which gives insight to make correct decisions and act in the appropriate way.
Considered the eye of intuition and intellect, energy focused within the third eye gives you wisdom, clarity and insight.

The Crown chakra is the seventh chakra and is associated with the color violet or white. Located at the top of the head as the highest chakra, it gives us access to higher states of consciousness and opens us to what is beyond our personal outlook and visions.
The function of the Crown chakra enables us to become connected with the multiverse and is driven by consciousness.
Other names for the crown chakra are Sahasrara, Shunnya, Niralambapuri and it’s design is likened to a thousand petaled lotus flower.
